The Englishman

“It had been 3 whole days and I felt like my world was ripping apart.

I couldn’t remember if I had eaten anything since Wednesday, couldn’t remember if I slept, if I had cried, if I had even left my room. All I could remember were the words he’d thrown at my feet as he stormed away, sick of my inability to make up my mind.

Up until 6 months ago, everything in my life had been figured out. I was going to settle down, get married, have children and remain HERE, satisfied and content. My job was going to be glamorous and powerful, my husband successful and handsome, and my children sweet and gorgeous.

Then he showed up.

Now I couldn’t even speak my own name. It’s funny how a man can do that to a woman when she least expects it.”

That s the piece of advice I got from an Australian therapist when my sugar levels went through the roof. I ve had to learn to deal with type 1 diabetes when dancing, when travelling, with living in foreign lands. And as a group coordinator for educational trips, I have also helped others deal with chronic illnesses abroad.
